The Mom Renewal Project is going to have a new theme every month in 2011, based on themes in The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life. During the month of January, we will be talking about how to reconnect with who we really are.

Reconnecting With Who We Are

As moms, we are all on the same journey, but we may be in different stages, and we are most definitely having different experience along the way. As Renee Trudeau points out in The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal:

“The journey of motherhood affects all of us differently, yet profoundly. Sometimes between sleep deprivation, toilet training and homework, the question who am I now? will surface for just about every mother”.

I love being a mom. I mean I really really really really love being Bee* and Jay’s* mom. Being their mom has allowed me to love beyond my wildest imagination. My boys are the loves of my life, but I can admit that I am also so much more than just their mom. I have so much to give to my boys, but I know I also have so much more to give to the world.

I invite you to sign up for my RSS Feed and come back tomorrow to discuss how your perception of who you are has changed since becoming a parent.

There are many ways to join the conversation!

  • Leave a comment letting us know how becoming a parent has enriched/enhanced who you are.
  • Tweet about how your experience of becoming a mom has enriched and enhanced who you are or who you want to be? Use the hashtag #MomRenewal.
  • Join our Facebook discussion on the Mom Renewal Facebook fan page.

Let your inner wisdom shine!

* I will be referring to my boys as Bee and Jay going forward on my blog.

I have learn so much about myself since becoming a mom. I am calmer and less worried – early on I realized that if I worried as much about every little thing (like I had, at times, about myself) that I would go CRAZY. So, I learned to let go of what I can’t control…and I am happier. Yeah!

  • Since I’ve become a mom, I’ve started rationalizing based on statistics like “statistically he will be fine” or “statistically the test results will come back normal” or “statistically, this too shall pass”. This significantly has decreased my stress and worry.

  • I think these could apply to non-moms as well! I want to do the monthly theme! 🙂 What do you think March will be? I’m only asking because I’m working on a project, that involves kindness… Any chance there’s a match? 🙂

  • Oh, it’s good to be back on this site.

Holidays over, decorations down, and back to life.

I have missed the renewal and the fellowship.
