Please tweet this if you find some value in this BlogHer packing guide.

This is not a typical Mom Renewal blog post, but I decided to write it anyways for two reasons. First, even if it only helps one mom, I hope this BlogHer packing list reduces the stress of packing for BlogHer10. And second, I’m hoping this post will go a bit pre-BlogHer viral as 2500+ women start packing for NYC. If moms check out The Mom Renewal Project for this ultimate packing list, maybe they’ll hang out, check out what we have to offer, and start giving themselves more permission to put themselves back onto their priority lists.

Remember, when you’re packing for BlogHer, start early, give yourself plenty of time, and have fun. I started packing last Friday at 10pm and was not done until 2am. I also tweeted my way through packing for social entertainment.

1. Pack Clothes

On your bed, create piles of clothes you think you may to bring to BlogHer.

  • Pants
  • Shorts
  • Skirts
  • Shirts
  • Sweaters
  • Dresses
  • Pajamas
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Bras
  • Body Shapers (Spanx, etc)
  • Jackets
  • Workout Clothes
  • Shoes

Packing1

Filter each pile based on how many outfits you will need at BlogHer. Last year, some women did what I did and wore the same outfit from morning to night and others changed for evening parties. I did not want to get all dressed up for the parties. The important thing is that you do what feels authentically comfortable to you.

Pack your clothes after you have filtered them down. If you have them, use packing cubes.

I also recommend bringing an empty plastic bag for dirty clothes.

2. Pack That One-More-Thing You Have Been Thinking About

After you have packed all of your clothes, take a look at all of the clothes you did not put in your suitcase. Is there one item of clothing that you’re questioning if you should bring? If yes, pack it (for me, it was my straight leg happy jeans).

Packing3

3. Pack Shoes

What are you wearing on your feet? I decided to only bring 4 pairs of shoes – two flats and two pairs of heels. I brought flip flops, but couldn’t resist bringing my purple heels. I will probably splurge and also buy a pair of shoes once I get into NYC.

4. Pack Jewelry

I only packed necklaces and one bracelet, but here’s a bigger list to pull from…

  • Necklaces
  • Bracelets
  • Bangles (seriously, I don’t even know what bangles are, but I’ll put them on the list for you)
  • Rings
  • Earrings
  • Toe Rings
  • Hair Pins
  • Tiaras
  • Watches

5. Pack Computer, Camera, and Other Electronics

I packed my…

  • Computer with cord
  • Smart phone with headset
  • Camera with battery charger
  • Flip with extra reusable batteries and my battery charger
  • iPod with headphones and cord for recharging
  • iGo with tips for my phone, bluetooth, and iPod
  • All of your cords and chargers

6. Pack Extra Luggage

Even if you thought 2009 swag was out of control, most likely you will be still be taking some swag home from the brand festivities. And considering BlogHer10 is New York City, chances are high that you will probably purchase one or more things during your stay. For this reason, I recommend packing an empty duffel inside of your suitcase.

    • Where are those packing cubes from, and what brand are they??

    • Thank you for the list. Although, I live in NYC it’s helpful to know what sort of clothing options I’ll need throughout the weekend.

    • I bought my Eagle Creek packing cubes at REI & the Container Store.

    • It’s so refreshing to hear that someone else doesn’t get all dressed up! I just want to be comfortable, relaxed, and not worry about fitting in. Your list is awesome!

    • Great tips! I have never had fun packing, think I travel too much for that. Plus, I always figure whatever I forget I can buy there; good excuse to shop!

    • I need to pack for our entire family – tomorrow. Have not started yet, but have things sort of set in my mind. I was toying with only doing one outfit per day. Possibly taking a skirt or another shirt in case I want to freshen up. So little time and don’t want to waste it by fussing with a new outfit. Also the less I take, I will not have to direct deposit into laundry when I get home. So, are you doing one outfit again this year? Thanks for the tips!

    • I packed 2 different tops for each day, but if I’m comfy, I won’t change just for the parties. I didn’t bring anything super fancy.
